The Qur'an was convinced by muslim as holy book in which must be headed towards its truth. Qur'an is also to apply to along time, because there are some orders and guides of life from Allah ( QS. 2:2). Despitefully, Qur'an was confessed by muslim as the only one of holy book in world in which not change a few or a part of it, because it is veritable ( QS. 15:9) Ideal ideas to applies the truth of the Qur'an is to require the correct understanding the text message of Qur'an. This matter is to know how Qur'an explain about something, at the same time to understand historical context (asbâbul alnuzûl), why that verses is revealed. Dimension divine is absolute existence of prophetical treatise which must be translated into various understanding for every community ( Q.S.14:4). Various approachs and methods is used to understand Qur'an. There is dzâhiri school understands text is based on the sound of text. On the contrary, alra'yu school tends to be rational and give more portion to mind to understand Qur'an. According to Islam liberalism view, to understand Qur'an may not in the textual paradigm (dzahiri), but consider the aspect of its purpose. The textual Understanding is assumed will reduce the spirit of Qur'an that have the vision forwards. Moreover the verses is revealed because of certain context. The Idea of contextual understanding to Qur'an can see Umar’s legal reasoning (ijtihad) not cut thief hand, and does not give religious obligatory or tithe (zakat) to muallaf, and dose not give booty (ghanimah) according to the text (dzâhir nash). Whereas in the Qur'an and practice of prophet (Rasul), that three orders is applied according to guide of Qur'an. However, Umar gave other opinion to three cases without following literal meaning of the text (dzâhir nash). For Umar, implementation of Qur'an textually, without considering its context to all cases above, it will loss its relevance. It is very obvious that Umar’s understanding to Qur'an is not textual or literal paradigm (dzâhir nash), but also contextual, such as Islam liberalism paradigm. The contextual understanding to Qur'an and Sunnah can not be assumed as uninsincere attitude to accept Qur’an and Sunnah as basic of understanding. But, on the contrary, that attitude represents seriousness to implementate Qur'an and Sunnah in the life. In the context of reformation of Islam law thought, the contextual understanding with the concept of maqâshid alsyarî'ah, must be considered as one of approach in understand Qur'an and Sunnah. This matter to respond and give answer to the problems that change dynamicly and not be accomodated obviously.
