Abstract

Inverter is an electronic circuit that serves to convert direct current into alternating current with a certain frequency. Inverter output voltage wave form of sinusoidal. But the reality is not the case, the output voltage that is produced is not a pure sine inverter harmonics, causing large enough at the inverter output. Therefore it is necessary actions to reduce the THD at the output of the inverter. Another method to reduce THD is using Multilevel Inverter (MLI). MLI here is used to convert the DC voltage into AC voltage by using the technique of triggering Phase Opposition Disposition (POD). Multilevel inveter output in the form of an AC voltage used as the source of the motor. In this research be designed five-level diode clamped multilevel inverters are used as the three-phase induction motor control using the concept (Field Oriented Control) FOC. POD herein set foot IGBT switching on the MLI Diode clamped. From this research, the reference speed of 200 rad / s with a load 0Nm, 30Nm and 50 Nm obtained the best results with the smallest error steady state 2.275%, motor speed 204.55, and THD by 14,02%. 5level Diode clamped MLI besides produce distorted fairly low voltage can also be implemented as a motor speed control using vector control.
