Abstract
Weakening Indonesia's tourism industry has been adversely affected PT survival. Advanced Business Mukti (MUM) Tour & Travel Organizer Malang. For overcome this setback the management of PT. MUM Tour & Travel Organizer starting Malang perform a variety of marketing communications efforts to increase the number of service users services, primarily through support for activities of public relations (PR) in this company. To facilitate the finding of researchers in analyzing the data, researchers used several concept. Included is a Direct Advertising leaflets, letters, mini books, and the like, which were distributed directly to customers, suppliers (Distributor), dealer (dealer), and so on (Moore, 2004: 265). Sales promotion defined as a marketing activity that can stimulate product sales company with provide more value to a company's sales force, distributors, or pelanggan-pelanggan that are considered influential for certain long-term sales (Belch and Belch,1998: 20). Personal selling is face to face communication patterns between individuals where sellers try to influence potential buyers to purchase a product, service, or for addressing an idea (Belch and Belch, 1998: 21). This study used a qualitative approach with a focus of research is an activit public relations conducted by PT. MUM Tour & Travel in marketing communications include purpose, function, role public relations activities, as well as used as promotional mix communication tools in marketing. Data collected through interview techniques, observations, and documentation. Research conducted at the office of PT. Advanced Business Mukti (MUM) Tour Organizer & Travel, located on Jl. BS. Riadi 137, Malang from July 2006 until by August 2006. Informants are used as the unit of analysis of five people purposively defined, ie based on criteria predetermined by descriptive qualitative data analysis techniques, while the technique is the validity of research dat using triangulation techniques and methods of triangulation of sources. From the research that has been done, researchers concluded that public relation activities in PT MUM Tour & Travel Organizer Malang classified into two patterns based on function and the role of public relations activities, namely informal and formal public relations activities. PR Activities Informal run without going through the stages of systematic and carried out every staff PT MUM Tour & Malang Travel Organizer in the form of applied into the daily activities of work with understanding that each staff PT MUM Tour & Travel Organizer Malang assumed name company. Formal public relations activities carried out with systematic steps to support marketing communication process is only done by the marketing division as a task in addition to its main tasks in marketing the company's products, which each form of promotion is done through the following processes, namely: Fact Finding, Planning, Communicating, Evaluating.
