Abstract

Rose plants are one of the ornamental plants that have high economic and social values. Demand for roses continues to increas along with the increasing demand of the community. Meanwhile on the other hand the supply of roses by domestic producers is still very limited. One way to do this is by multiplying the roses by cuttings. Cuttings often fail by not growing roots. One effort to overcome failure in growth in cuttings is to use growth regulators and appropriate planting media. The purpose of this study was to determine the composition of the growing media and the soaking time of growth regulators on the growth of regulators on the growth of rose cuttings. This study used a factorial randomized complete design with two factors and was repeated 3 times. The first factor is the composition of the planting medium and the second factor is the leght of immersion of growth regulators. Observation parameters include : shoot initiation, number of shoot, number of leaves, number of roots, roots length, and the percentage of live cuttings. The results showed that the composition of the growing media and soaking time affected the number of shoots at the age of 7 days after planting with the best treatment M3L3 (soil : husk charcoal : cocopeat) (2:1:1) with a soaking time of 3 hours. The best composition of planting media is treatment M3 (soil : husk charcoal : cocopeat) (2:1:1) in the parameters number of shoots, number of leaves, roots length, and the percentage of live cuttings. The best treatment for soaking growth regulators is L3 (soaking for 3 hours) on all parameters that is shoot initiation, number of shoot, number of leaves, number of roots, roots length, and the percentage of live cuttings.
