Abstract
Academic achievement is a alteration in behavioral skills or abilities that can increase for some time and not caused to the growth process, but the existence of learning situations. This study aims to investigate the relationship of emotional intelligence and academic achievement with the involvement of students in the school as a moderating variable. The subject of this research is the students at Nine Grade of SMP Muhammadiyah in Malang. The instruments used to measure student engagement use The Student Engagement in School Questionare (SESQ), emotional intelligence using emotional intelligence scale (EIS) and academic achievement are measured using raport score. In this research, Data analysis technique used macro process analysis. The results showed that there was a significant correlation between emotional intelligence and academic achievement (β = 4,93; p = 0,00) and significant student involvement. The correlation of emotional intelligence with academic achievement (β = 1.77; p = 0.04).
