Abstract
Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is an abnormality of kidney in its structure and function that occurs along 3 months or more. Anemia occurs in 80-90% of CKD patients. Erythropoietin (EPO) is a glycoprotein hormone that regulates the production of red blood cell precursors, produced in the kidneys in response to tissue hypoxia. The decreasing in EPO production is a major cause of anemia in CKD. Objective: This study is aimed to examine the pattern of Eritropoietin used in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patient including also the type, dose, route, frequency, and duration of administration at Dr. Iskak Hospital in Tulungagung. Method: This study employed retrospective observational with the descriptive data presentation from CKD patient from October 2017 - December 2017 period. Results and Conclusions: Erythropoietin was administered in 100 patients. The therapy that was given to the patient is the single therapy (100%) and combination therapy (0%). The type of Erythropoietin used in epoetin alpha (98%) and epoetin beta (2%). The doses administered by each patient are the same which is (1x2000 IU) SC and (1x3000 IU) SC. The route type of Erythropoietin is Subcutaneous (100%).
