Abstract

Wall panel is a non-structural component made by a unit of partial wall blocks that put together into a solid wall. A wall panel usually consists of bricks overlaid by mortar. In certain condition, using bricks costs and weighs more. To build an earthquake-proof building, a light, thin, and solid wall panel is one of the components that should be considered. One of the materials to build the wall panel is sugarcane bagasse. Sugarcane bagasse is an innovation of new mix in the making of a wall panel. This study aimed to plan the making of wall panel using the combination of sugarcane bagasse and glue to increase the adhesion to cement. The materials were examined through the compressive strength test and the flexural strength test. There are three variations of mix, i.e. 1:1:0,30:0,20, 1:1:0,35:0,20, and 1:1:0,40:0,20. To examine the compressive strength, a 5 cm x 5 cm x 5 cm mortar-based test tool was used. Meanwhile, to examine the flexure strength, a 60 cm x 15 cm x 7,5 cm mortar-based test tool was used. The results showed that the compressive strength of the wall panel was 6,53 MPa and the flexure strength decreased from 12,05 MPa to 9,53 MPa.
