Abstract

Background: Volleyball is a sport played in a group that consists of 6 people each groups. This sport is done to get the point by grounding the ball to the opponent field. Techniques in playing volleyball that are mostly used by the player are smash, block and service. In doing these techniques, the players need a high jump or also known as vertical jump which is required great muscular explosive power. One exercise that can be done to improve the vertical jump of volleyball player is plyometric exercise. The examples of plyometric exercise are single leg jump and single leg skipping exercise. Aim: This research is aimed to find out the influence comparison of plyometric single leg jump and single leg skipping exercise towards the vertical jump improvement on volleyball players in UKM MVBT. Methods: This research is using quasi-experimental design with two group pretest-post test design approach. This research involves 32 respondents by using purposive sampling as the sample collection technique. Furthermore, the respondents are divided into two exercise groups; single leg jump and single leg skipping exercise. The duration of single leg jump exercise is 3 sets and 5 times repetition, every repetition the exercise will increase 3 times repetition every 3 times meeting. Whereas the duration of single leg skipping exercise is 4 sets and 10 times repetition for each feet, every repetition the exercise will increase 4 times repetition every 3 times meeting. Result: Based on the analysis of statistics test by using paired sample t-test, the result shows that there is influence between before and after getting the exercise. The single leg jump exercise is resulting pvalue 0,000 and single leg skipping exercise is resulting pvalue 0,000 towards the vertical jump improvement. While the analysis by using T Independent test resulting the single leg skipping is better than single leg jump exercise in improving the vertical jump with pvalue 0,004 (H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted). Conclusion: There is influence difference of plyometric single leg jump and single leg skipping exercise towards vertical jump improvement on volleyball player in UKM MVBT.
