Abstract

Education is a process of training and development of knowledge, skills, thoughts and character of a person in order to achieve a better maturity of life. Education is expected to ripen the quality of logic, heart, morals and faith so as to achieve the point of quality of life. Based on the statement so that an educational institution should be able to change the quality of human life in order to become a useful human being. Improving the quality of education should be the main priority of every educational institution, according to the Ministry of Education (2000) the causes of low quality education, among others, the management of centralized education. Along with regional autonomy also brings the autonomy of management of educational institutions known as school based management (MBS). Some characteristics of SBM are the authority of schools to manage their own institutions in order to achieve the expected quality of education. One of the Islamic educational institutions that implement SBM is SDIT Ash Shohwah. As the characteristics of SBM, the teaching and learning process in SDIT Ash Shohwah is applied well to be part of efforts to improve the quality of education both in the quality of academic and non academic fields. The method used in this research is to use qualitative paradigm with case study approach. Based on the qualitative paradigm so that the process of collecting data by interview, observation and documentation. the informant of the researcher is the vice principal who handles the curriculum and facilities and infrastructure and classroom teachers and lessons that do the teaching and learning process. To test the data collection instrument, the writer uses three ways such as extension of participation, observation persistence, triangulation, peer checking, sufficiency of reference material and check member. The data analysis that writer do is by method of analysis during the field as according to Miles and Hubermen (in Sugiono, 2010) is interactive model. xi Based on the results of research that the authors do, the authors found five points that are implemented in MBS as the characteristics of the researcher's focus is the process of teaching and learning. The findings are : (1) instructional media used to accelerate the teaching and learning process and can understand the concept given by the teacher.(2) to give lessons to the students according to the students' experience.(3) to motivate the students in order to further develop the capabilities possessed by each student.(4) used by teachers in presenting lessons. The method used depends on the state of the student.(5) the role of the teacher acting as facilitator, demonstrator, manager and evaluator. In addition to these characteristics, there are two factors supporting the implementation of SBM in quality improvement that is.(1) SDM developed in SDIT Ash Shohwah through various training such as MGMP or further study. (2) facilities and infrastructure that are held based on cooperation with the committee so that the needs in the learning process can be met.
