Abstract

Background :Self management is a process of changing "self totality" both in terms of intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical desired (target) can be achieved. The purpose of self-management in patients with Diabetes Millitus in order to determine good self-control of disease, and can make decisions. Method :The method in this study is a pre-experiment with one-group pre-post test design. This research instrument is a DSMQ questionnaire with Independent Variables namely Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) and Dependent variables namely the level of self-management. Subjects in the study amounted to 52 people using simple random sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out with a computerized system using SPSS program using Wilcoxon test analysis Result :The results of the pretest study showed that 29 people (55%) had a good level of self-management, 21 people (40%) had a bad level of self-management, 2 people (3%) had a good level of self-management. In the results of the Postest study there were 35 people (67%) had a good level of self-management, 10 people (19) had a sufficient level of self-management, 7 people (13%) had a bad level of self-management. The result of the analysis shows that the Z value is -5.921 with p value (Asymp. Sig 2-tailed) worth 0.000. Because the p value is <0.05, H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Conclusion :From the results of the study it can be concluded that there is an effect of Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) on the Level of Self Management of Type II Diabetes Millitus Patients in the Work Area of Soriutu Public Health Center in Manggelewa District.
