Abstract

Background: Propionibacterium acnes and Salmonella typhii are bacteria that cause infection. Some studies have shown that Anacardium occidentale and Cinnamomum burmannii have compounds with antibacterial effect.. The objective of this study is to investigate the antibacterial activity of combination extracts of Anacardium occidentale stem bark and Cinnamomum burmannii stem bark against Propionibacterium acnes and Salmonella typhi and find out of compounds found in plants Methods: Anacardium occidentale stem barks and Cinnamomum burmannii stem bark is extracted by maceration method using 96% ethanol with 3.ͭ ͪ remaserasi. Antibacterial test using disc diffusion method which 9 concentration combinations of Anacardium occidentale extract and Cinnamomum burmannii (Tabel 4.1). The positive control for Propionibacterium acnes is Clindamycin 2 µg/disk and Ciprofloxacin 5 µg/disk for Salmonella typhi bacteria. While the negative control was aquadest and DMSO 1%. Results and Conclusions: Based on the results of phytochemical screening, it was found that inside the Anacardium occidentale stem bark contained saponin, tannin, polyphenol, alkaloid, and flavonoid compounds, while Cinnamomum burmannii stem bark contained saponin, tannin and polyphenol compounds. The results also showed that the combination extract of Anacardium occidentale stem bark and Cinnamomum burmannii bark have antibacterial activity for Propionibacterium acnes by using disc diffusion method with moderate resistance response, the most effective concentration is the concentration of F which is 400 mg / ml of Anacardium occidentale stem bark extract and 15 mg / ml of Cinnamomum burmanii stem bark extract. But it has no activity as an antibacterial for Salmonella typhi bacteria.
