Abstract

This study aims to describe the strengthening of character education through the implementation of fullday school in SMP Bustanul Makmur Genteng Banyuwangi, with questions as follows; first, how to strengthen character education through the implementation of fullday school, second what are the strengthened characters, the third why certain character types are given strengthening in SMP Bustanul Makmur Genteng Banyuwangi. This research method using qualitative approach and case study method. In this study, researchers write the characters that are reinforced with the implementation of fullday school. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation. While the use of data analysis techniques according to Robert K. Yin model are: pattern matching, data explanation, and time series analysis. Result of research that SMP Bustanul Makmur Genteng Banyuwangi apply strengthening of character education by using fullday school implementation which more focused on religious values with ubudiyah activity. 18 characters determined by Presidential Regulation No. 87 of 2017 on Strengthening Character Education, SMP Bustanul Makmur can only provide 8 strengthening of character to students of SMP Bustanul Makmur, that is religious values, honest, discipline, creative, appreciate achievement, communicative, responsible and socially responsible. Inadequate human resources and saspras and dense school activities, making the 18 characters organized by the President of the Republic of Indonesia on the characterization of less than the maximum character education attained. Schools that perform fullday school system and schools that are in the shade of boarding school makes the strengthening of the character does not happen with the maximum. With a solid and full of activities the school can only give 8 strengthening characters from 18 strengthening character education.
