Abstract

Peatlands are a very specific ecosystem with waterlogged conditions. Peatlands are generally composed of remnants of vegetation that accumulate for a long time and form peat soils. Peatlands are fragile, relatively infertile, and irreversible. Peat soils that can be developed for celery and become productive land must be accompanied by proper tillage so that it is suitable for plant growth. This study aims to examine the effect of the dose of organic matter on the growth and yield of celery plants on peat media with a planting pattern of vermicelli. This research was conducted at Jl. Bukit Berbunga No. 38, Sidomulyo, Kec. Batu, Kota Batu, East Java. With an altitude of about 980 meters above sea level with a daily average temperature of 21˚C-23˚C. This study uses a simple randomized block design consisting of 8 treatments, each of which is repeated 3 times. The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA level of 5% and 1%, if there was a real effect, then further analysis was carried out with BNJ test with a level of 5%. From the results of the study the composition of the media of peat and organic matter has a very significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, and wet weight. But there was no significant effect on the parameters of dry weight and leaf chlorophyll. The use of peat media composition and organic matter has an effect on plant height, number of leaves, and wet weight and celery plants. Media composition of soil + peat + chicken manure + goat manure + cow manure produces higher yields and more celery leaves.
