Abstract

Chili (Capsicum annuum L.) crop is one of the most important horticultural commodities in Indonesia. Pest and disease disorders are problems that are still encountered in chili cultivation. Losses caused by diseases are generally greater than those of pests. This is caused by the disease can not be seen by naked eye. Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV) is a major disease-causing virus in chili plants. Control of plant diseases using endophytic microbes can be an alternative. This research was conducted at UMM Biotechnology Laboratory, Biomed Laboratory of UMM Medical Faculty and screenhouse. The activity was carried out from January to June 2018. The explored plant samples and extraction of mosaic viruses were from the farmer's land of Gadingkulon village. This research used an exploration method and application effectiveness test used a simple Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Data were analyzed descriptively and statistically analyzed used an analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Duncan's advanced test of 5%. 10 endophytic fungi were isolated from all plant tissues. The identities of endophytic fungi that were identified include Penicilium sp. (5 isolates), Aspergillus sp. (1 isolate), and Trichoderma sp (1 isolate). The other 3 isolates cannot be identified. Endophytic bacteria are only isolated from pods, roots and soil tissue and all bacteria were Gram-Negative bacteria. CMV infection in chili plants is not able to be minimized by treatment of endophytic microbes. The use of positive control (liquid organic fertilizer) is the best treatment in suppressing the intensity of treatment of fungi 9.02% and bacterial treatment 17.63%. Fungal isolates which are hypovirulent isolates were negatively correlated with the results of field testing. Meanwhile, bacterial isolates which are virulent isolates were positively correlated with the test results in the field.
