Abstract

Cassava varieties that have been widely distributed in the community today are local varieties and national superior varieties. Cassava superior varieties that are currently being planted by the community are: Adira 1, Adira 2, Adira 4, Darul Hidayah, Malang 1, Malang 2, Malang 4, Malang 6, UJ-3, and UJ-5. This study aims to obtain information on characteristics of some cassava varieties for bioethanol production. The expected output in this study is the availability of comparative information on the characteristics of some cassava varieties for bioethanol production. In order to find out which cassava varieties have the highest bioethanol productivity. This study produces information about varieties that are superior for bioethanol production. By using four varieties available as a comparison to determine the characteristics of cassava as what is suitable for bioethanol production. Based on the results of research on the characterization of various cassava varieties (Manihot esculenta Crantz) for bioethanol production in Balitkabi Malang, it can be concluded that the 4 cassava varieties observed had significant differences in the observations of qualitative and quantitative variables. From the proximate test results concluded that cassava varieties which have high bioethanol content are Darul Hidayah varieties.
