Abstract

Background: Marigold extract contains lutein and flavonoid act as antioxidant in resolving free radicals. Based on this information, the researcher made peel off mask with marigold extract to resolve the face problems caused by free radicals. Aim of research: This research was conducted to determine the effect of Marigold extract within 3%, 4%, and 6% concentration in PVA and PEG 1500 base to the physique, chemical characteristics (organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, dispersive power, time to dry), and stability as peel off mask. Method: Marigold extract formulized into peel off mask in 3 formulas, which are FI (3%), FII (4%), and FIII (6%) in PVA 15% and PEG 1500 2% base in each formula. Evaluation was done on physique characteristics (organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, dispersive power, and time to dry), chemical (pH) and supply stability. Result and Conclusion: Organoleptic test on formula I (3%), II (4%), and III (6%) resulted in brown yellowish color, unique extract smell, and soft gel texture. One Way Anova analysis resulted in significant differences in dispersive power ranged from 5,5-5,9 cm, time to dry ranged from of 24-26 minutes, and pH ranged from 4,58-4,96. However, there is no significant difference in viscosity with the result ranged within 26.533-31.000 cPs. In stability test, all of the formulas are stable, no syneresis happened.
