Abstract

Introduction: Dyslipidemia is the condition of abnormal lipid levels on plasma and involves broader spectrum. The common lipid fraction abnormalities are the elevation of total cholesterol level, LDL, and triglycerides, and the decline of HDL level. The normal values for total cholesterol level, HDL, and LDL are <200 mg/dl, <40 mg/dl, and <100 mg/dl respectively. Objective: The objective of this study is to analyze the prescription of dyslipidemia drugs (Simvastatin and Atorvastatin) administered in Bhayangkara Hasta Brata Hospital by applying ATC/DDD method. Method: This research applied ATC/DDD method. The dyslipidemia drugs were identified using ATC code, ATC classification, and DDD unit of Simvastatin and Atorvastatin from WHO Index. After ATC coding and DDD unit from WHO Index, the DDD of Simvastatin and Atorvastin were calculated in accordance with the number of prescriptions in October, November, and December 2017 at Bhayangkara Hasta Brata Hospital. Result and Conclusion: The result of this study using ATC/DDD method showed that within three months, the daily dosage of Simvastatin and Atorvastatin were 4.54 mg and 3.42 mg respectively. It could be concluded that the use of dyslipidemia drugs, especially simvastatin is still widely used.
