Abstract

Some studies reveal that the role of oxidative stress caused by free radicals can trigger the dangerous disease such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and degenerative diseases (Barhe and Tchouya, 2014). The body has no excessive antioxidative defense system, however it requires exogenous antioxidants or natural antioxidants (Sunarni et al., 2007). Natural antioxidants are often found behind the extract of liquid strawberry as the main ingredient of cosmetic antioxidants. Strawberries contain vitamin C, B1, B2, provitamin A and elagic acid as antioxidants and can smooth the skin, making skin tones bright, clean and preventing wrinkles (Widyastuti, et al., 2016). It is required to examine the antioxidant activity of strawberry liquid extract from PT.A, PT.B, and PT.C to know IC50 from each extract. The DPPH test method is used because it is technically simple, and can be done quickly and requires only a UV-Vis spectrophotometer (Karadag et al., 2009). Measurement of antioxidant activity of strawberry liquid extract and positive control using Uv-Vis spectrophotometry with wavelength 515 nm. Result of IC50 from three strawberry liquid extract and positive control were PT.A 443,39 ppm, PT.B 355,72 ppm, PT.C 491,90 ppm, and positive control (Vitamin C) 2,79 ppm.
