Abstract

Background: patellofemoral pain syndrome is a collection of painful symptoms perceived around the kneecap caused by various causes and a malfunction of the patellar bone to its location on the femoral bone trochlea. Can be exacerbated by ballet dancers with excessive turnout, dancing in time and duration, flat-feet, high arches, or wide hips can also exacerbate the incidence of patellofemoral joint pain syndrome. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between the length of ballet dancing to the risk of patellofemoral joint pain syndrome in ballet dancers in Susan Ballet Studio Malang. Research Methods: The study design was Cross Sectional Study with total population of 215 people and samples taken using quota sampling method by applying inclusion and exclusion criteria through questionnaires for data retrieval and 41 samples were obtained. Results: The results of the study with Chi-Square test obtained a significance value smaller than alpha 5% (0.605 <0.05) or p value <0.05. This means that H1 is rejected and it can be said that there is no relationship between the length of ballet dancing and the incidence of patellofemoral pain syndrome at Susan Ballet Studio Malang Conclusion: There was no significant relationship between the length of ballet dancing and the incidence of patellofemoral joint pain syndrome in Susan Ballet Studio Malang.
