Abstract

This research is having a goal to knowing effect of premix and non-premix combustion towards flammability limit on flame of butane inside meso-scale combustor. Meso-scale combustor has variety components such as ceramics, evaporator stainless steel tube, 3 mm stainless steel separator with lines 8 flame holder as a heat recirculation and quartz glass tube with 3,5 mm inside diameter and 5 mm outside diameter. Stabled flame of non-premix combustion occurs at fuel-rich mixture with the lowest ratio limit equivalent at 1,23 and the highest ratio limit equivalent at 1,98. After that, the lowest velocity equivalent at 22,35 cm/s and the highest velocity equivalent at 43,55 cm/s. Stabled flame of premix combustion had the lowest ratio limit equivalent at 1,04 with the highest ratio limit equivalent at 1,72. Then the lowest velocity equivalent at 26,21 cm/s and the highest velocity equivalent at 44,39 cm/s. Visualization of fire flame on both combustion are visualized as bright concerned-blue flames and the shape of flames becomes more wider along with the increasing velocity(speed) of reactant’s flow. On that visualization of both combustion, usage of equivalent ratio made the flame of fire are having differences shape and color. At non-premix combustion, the color of fire seemed as bright concerned-blue but the fire still not smooth enough inside meso-scale combustor otherwise at premix combustion, the color of fire seemed as bright concerned-blue smoothly inside meso-scale combustor.
