Abstract

Sawo kecik can be used for furniture wood and the fruit can be produced. It has many benefits for daily activity. Sawo kecik seed is the kind of seed that have hard skin so they need chemicals to break the dormancy according to Lita, 2002 with using chemicals the imbibition can .be procced well. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of seed immersion in KNO3 and the composition of the planting medium on germination and growth of seed germination and seedling growth of sawo kecik seeds1. This research was conducted from March to July 2018 at Screen House Forestry Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture-Animal Husbandry, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This study uses a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors arranged in factorial. The first factor is the duration of immersion of KNO3 which consists of 4 levels control, 10 hours, 15 hours, and 20 hours. The second factor of the composition of the planting medium consisted of 3 levels, top soil, sand, and manure (chicken, goat, and cow) ratio of 2: 1: 1 with each treatment repeated 3 times. The variables observed were seed germination power, seed germination rate (number of germination seed days) and seedling growth (height, number of leaves, stem diameter, wet weight and dry weight). The data obtained will be analyzed using variance analysis followed by Duncan's advanced test p 0.05%. The results showed that there was an interaction between the soaking time of KNO3 and the composition of the planting medium on the germination, germination rate, seedling height, and wet weight combination of the best treatment is K4M2 to the variable germination rate, germination, height, and wet weight. The best planting media in the germination process with the composition of top soil media, sand and goat manure. The best immersion with soaking time is 15 hours by comparison with the concentration of 1.0 gl water -1 ppm.
