Abstract

This experimental research investigated to know characteristic combustion of butane inside meso-scale combustor using flame holder that have different thermal conductivity. Butane is used as fuel, as for outside diameter combustor chamber 5mm and inside 3,5 mm made from quartz glass tube. Flame holder material that used made from copper and stainless steel Characteristic of combustion such as flammability limit, visualization and temperature both of materials shown that copper have wider flammability limit than stainless steel, this caused copper have higher thermal conductivity than stainless steel, but, copper graphic have sudden constriction that not occur on stainless steel, this due to copper thermal conductivity decrease every increasing of temperature, while stainless steel thermal conductivity increased every increasing temperature. The visualization has region expansion of flame and increasing of temperature every increasing flow rate. Equivalent ratio have a big role on dark and bright flame and value temperature of flame.
