Abstract

Speaking is one of difficult subjects for students in an EFL classroom. The researcher found some difficulties in speaking such as lack of fluency that faced by the students especially for second grade students. One of the strategies is using cartoon movie as a medium which can be applied for teaching speaking. That is why the researcher wants to find out the role of Peppa Pig movie to improve speaking skill in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah at MI Wahid Hasyim 3 and to ascertain if there is an improvement for second grade students in speaking skill by watching Peppa Pig movie in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah at MI Wahid Hasyim 3. The research purpose is to find out whether there is a significant improvement or not for the second-grade students who have been taught by using Peppa Pig movie. In this study, the researcher used quantitative approach. The sample of this research was the second grade students at Mi. Wahid Hayim 3. To collect the data, the researcher used pre-test and post-test as the intrument of this reasearch. The researcher took one class and it included 35 students. They were divided into two groups, namely; Experimental group and control group. The researcher applied Anova to analyze the data, the siginificance is .05. In this research, the result showed that the post-test mean score of experimental group is 73.06 and the mean score of control group is 65.59 after giving a treatment. The post-test result of significance is .000 means .000<.05. It can be seen that there is a significant difference. The level of difference score is 7.47 points. In conclusion, the Peppa Pig movie can increase the student’s speaking skill espeacially for the second grader students at Mi. Wahid Hasyim 3. Peppa Pig movie can be applied for teacher and other researcher to increase the student’s speaking skill.
