Abstract

Hijab film by Hanung Bramantyo raised the phenomenon that occurred in Indonesian society. The film is a comedy drama genre. But in this film also shows the culture of society that still thick with patriarchal culture. So without realizing this film shows the women after marriage look helpless with circumstances that require them to be a complete housewife without being able to develop their career. From this problem, the researcher made the problem formulation that is how big the tendency of elements of gender injustice in film hijab, by counting how many occurrences of scene and dialogue containing elements of gender injustice. This research uses basic research of content analysis with quantitative approach, and type of descriptive research. This study uses three categories structure taken from the theory proposed by A. Nunuk P. Murniati, namely the marginalization of women, stereotypes of women, and subordination to women. The marginalization category of women, has two sub-categories, namely the marginalization in the family and the marginalization in the person. Similarly, the stereotyped category of women, which has two sub-categories, namely stereotypes in the family and stereotypes within the person. This sub-category was chosen by the researcher because it adapted to the Hijab film that mostly tells about problems in the family. While the subordination category for women does not have sub-category. The unit of analysis used in this study is the scene and dialogue with the measuring unit of frequency per second from the appearance of scenes and dialogue in each scene in the film. The technique of data analysis is done by the researcher identify the scene based on the specified category, then insert into the coding table and describe the data by category. Coding is done with the help of two coders. From the results of pengkodingan then do the calculation and testing the level of agreement with two coders, or can be called with the reliability test. The reliability test is performed using the Holsty formula and supported by the use of Scott's Pi formula. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the tendency of elements of gender injustice in film Hijab by director Hanung Bramantyo has 25 scenes containing gender injustice. From the appearance of the scene, the frequency of occurrence of the scene and the dialogue as much as 43 times with the duration of its appearance for 776 seconds. Which consists of 23 occurrences, which contains a marginalization element of women, with a duration of occurrence for 378 seconds. Then 11 times of occurrence containing stereotypical elements to women with a duration of occurrence for 182 seconds. And 9 occasions appear to have subordinated elements to women, with a duration of occurrence for 216 seconds. By looking at the results of this study, it shows that the film Hijab is not likely to contain elements of gender inequality. But the delivery of elements of gender inequality is more packed with comedic elements. So the film shows hijab as a film that intends to entertain the community with elements of drama and comedy, but not apart from the message to be conveyed that around us there is gender inequality, especially against women in household life.
