Abstract

Writing skill is needed by students because it can help them to organize ideas, use vocabulary, comprehend the main idea, and use correct grammar. But, in fact, it is difficult for the students to produce a good writing instantly because the writing skill is complexed and difficult. To enable students to make a good writing, the teachers must find the techniques to create the teaching and learning writing more creative, and attract the attention of students. One of the technique that can be applied is Roundrobin. In this study, the researcher uses Roundrobin technique to teach writing skill at the second grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Ngajum. The purpose of this study was to know it Roundrobin technique can help students to improve writing skill or not. In this study, the researcher used quasi experimental method. Quasi experimental design does not provide full control, and considered worthwhile because the design, permit researcher to reach reasonable conclusions even though full control is not possible (Ary, 2010). Quasi experimental was used with non randomized pre-test and post-test, it is one of the most widely used quasi experimental designs in educational research. The researcher used document analysis technique to know the scores obtained by students after implemented pre-test. Then the researcher determined which group belonged to the experimental group and a control group. The treatment was given to the experimental group in class who get low mean scores. The result of the study showed that there are significant changes in the mean score before and after using Roundrobin technique. In pre-test the mean score was 71,2 and in post test the mean score was 82.9. Based on the explanation, it can be concluded that the use of Roundrobin technique to teaching writing skill in second grade students can be helped to improve their writing skill.
