Abstract

The suspension system is a very important component in the car system. The suspension system often creates excessive vibrations as the car passes through road disturbances and load changes. Such vibrations if not properly anticipated will cause engine damage and reduce safety and comfort in driving. Therefore, a control system that minimizes vibration is required. In recent research has used a robust controller that is Sliding Mode Controller with Sliding Surface PID (SMC-PID). In this study, the controller will be optimized using Bat Algorithm to find PID parameters. The simulation results show that when the car load is the same, SMC-PID with Bat Algorithm optimization (SMC-PID-BAT) has decreased the vibrations of 0.04295 m/s2 better than SMC-PID. Then when load changes occur, SMC-PID-BAT only changes the overshoot of 0.0004 m/s2 every 100 kg of load changes, while SMC-PID changes overshoot 0.008 m/s2 every 100 kg load changes. This proves that SMC-PID-BAT is better at reducing vibration than SMC-PID.
