Abstract

Apple plants can be attacked by a variety of pests and diseases, it can be known from the symptoms that appear, but to know exactly the type of pests and diseases that attack the apple, the need for an expert. While the number of experts is limited and can not solve the problems of farmers in the same time, so it takes an expert system that contains knowledge of an apple expert's expertise about pests and diseases of the apple plant. Expert system (expert system) is a system that tries to take knowledge from humans and apply it to computer, so that a computer can solve problems like an expert. A good expert system is created to solve a particular problem by imitating the work of experts or experts. With the development of expert systems, it is hoped that people who lack the knowledge in the field can solve quite difficult problems that actually can only be solved from the help of experts. A problem handled by an expert is not only an algorithmic issue, but sometimes it is a difficult problem to understand. The problem can be handled by an expert with his knowledge and experience. Intelligent part that exist in expert system can give birth a relation between user with system, both from system give information, development of effective and efficient method, hence in user satisfaction phase in field of plantation especially apple become main focus at making this application. The method used in this expert system uses the dempster-shafer theory, since this uncertainty method can produce a picture of the possibility of an answer, and only one will correspond to the required answer, and this theory of confidence is taken on a symptom of the problem .
