Abstract
This research aimed at describing: (1) the problem-solving ability of PACE model by using open-ended in mathematics learning, (2) the students’ reasoning ability of PACE model using open-ended approach in mathematics learning. This research used the research form of case study and the kind of approach that used was descriptive quantitative approach. The data sources were 23 students of 7th-C grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Maron. The data were taken from the written test assessment sheets that were in the form of description items, of which items consisted of 4 items to find out the students‘ problem-solving ability and reasoning ability. The data analysis of this research used scoring. The values, that obtained from the scoring result by using the indicators of students’ problem-solving ability and scoring ability, were classified into 5 categories namely very good, good, pretty good, less good and very less. The research results showed that: (1) the students’ problem-solving of 7th C grade students was classified in good category, and (2) the students’ reasoning ability was classified in good category.
