Abstract

The students’ mathematics reasoning ability in solving a mathematical problem should be cultivated into the students so that students can compete against the times. One of the efforts to improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities in solving mathematical problems using problem-based learning with multiple representations approach which gives the students opportunity to take an active role in solving problems using their mathematical reasoning. Based on those conducted the research which aim to describe the students’ mathematical reasoning in solving problem. The students' mathematical reasoning described after problem-based learning with multiple representations approach. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subject of this research are the students of grade VII SMPN 1 Nalumsari Jepara. The technique of collecting data are observation and test. The data analysis technique uses scoring guidelines and percentage of the students' mathematical reasoning abilities. The results showed that the reasoning indicator in understanding the problem was good category with the value 80.556%, the reasoning indicator in planning the problem very good category with the value 90.741%, the reasoning indicator in implementing the plan in the intermediate category with the value 75.000%, and the reasoning indicator in re-check in the enough category with a value 71.296%.
