Abstract

Unit Commitment (UC) is a power plant scheduling problem. The scheduling of generating units in electric power systems has many limitations. In addition to the limitations that exist, the electric power system needs to be considered regarding the power lost during transmission time (power losses). So that this final project will analyze the power flow using the Newton Raphson method and design and implement the Binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO) algorithm to solve UC problems. The purpose of the power flow analysis in order to find out the power losses in a system and the optimization of UC functions to meet the needs of electric power with minimal generation costs over a certain time span. The results obtained show that the Newton Raphson method can be used for power flow analysis with fast computation time while the BPSO algorithm can solve the UC problem with existing constraints. UC optimization by considering power losses results in the ignition of more power and an increase in generating costs of 5.83% or $ 817.81.
