Abstract

The rice plant (Oryza sativa) is a staple food for half of Indonesia's population. From year to year the consumption level of the rice always increased, but the level of productivity has decreased. This is because the attack of planthopper pests which cause the level of damage ranging from mild to severe even puso (harvest failure). Generally, farmers controlling planthopper pests by using chemical insecticides that can cause environmental damage. Therefore the utilization of the Beauveria bassiana biological agent can be one of the alternative solutions to control the brown planthopper pest. However, the utilization of Beauveria bassiana often faces obstacles, including the lack of knowledge of farmers about insect pests and pathogens and the effectiveness of fungi in pest control, including how to propagate, prepare and apply. This research aims to test the effectiveness of Beauveria bassiana by using different concentrations and doses. The research was conducted for 4 months starting from December 2017 until March 2018 at the rice fields in Kalen Village, Dlanggu District, Mojokerto Regency. This research conducted in factorial that is using random design group (RAK), with 2 treatment factors. Factor 1 is the concentration of Beauveria bassiana (K) consisting of K0: control (water), K1: 0.2 g, K2: 0.4 g and K3: 0.6 g. Factor 2 is the application dose (D) consisting of D1: 10 ml / polybag and D2: 20 ml / polybag and D3: 30 ml / polybag. Based on the results of B.bassiana's research, it was effective to control the brown planthopper on the variables of mortality, intensity of the attack of brown planthopper, number of tillers and grain yield (gram / polybag). And the most effective combination treatment to control brown planthopper pests is 0.6 g concentration and 30 ml / polybag.
