Abstract

Currently, radio is becom a mass communication media that’s very profitable in obtaining information. But in competition with other radios, they must be able to display something "different from the others". It requires a mature management and plan. Therefore a radio must have news editorial management that perform its functions with the maximum. The purpose of the study was to analyze processing management redaction reporting in Radio City Guide 911 FM. This study describes the process of editorial redactional reporting conceptually divided into six steps. The theory that support in this research is theory according to Cutlip & Center in book Drs. Muslimin. Effective management processes through the steps of fact finding, planning, organizing, mobilization, supervision and the last is the evaluation step. All these steps to assess whether the goal has been achieved, or require other ways to better results. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive type and basic research that is naturalistic where researchers focus intensively on radio. Data collection techniques used interviews, documentation, and observation. Then the data obtained will be analyzed through data analysis technique using interactive model from Miles and Huberman (data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion) with data validity test using source triangulation. The results show editorial redactional management on Radio City Guide 911 FM has not been maximized. At the step of fact-finding, it was found that news and reporters had not been entirely in the field. At the step of the planning process has been done in detail. For the organizing step there is a positional capture that is shared by the Director. At the step of mobilization, responsibility is left to news and reporters for field coverage and behind-the-table tasks. At the step of controlling, the program director is responsible to always be ready to listen to the program broadcasted. The last evaluation by the station manager is held once a week to evaluate the performance of the broadcaster and also the holding. It can be concluded that the implementation of editorial redactional management reporting on Radio City Guide 911 FM has not been maximized because of the positional capture on radio members.
