Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness level of drying branches using an oven to find out the best treatment and knowing the level of resistance after the preservation process. This research was conducted in March - April, at the company UD Ika Jati Ds Bawangan RT 001 RW 002 Ploso District, Jombang Regency. The method used in this study is to use two types of oven heating, namely oven macro scale and micro scale oven. There are three branches drying treatment to determine the effectiveness of drying treatment. The first treatment was only carried out by drying, the branches were soaked using tobacco water for 48 hours and then drying was done as the second treatment, the third treatment was that the branches were soaked in tobacco water for 48 hours and then dried and then sprayed with tobacco water periodically 3 times a day. The endurance test was carried out using wood termites Cryptotermes spp, the analysis of wood branch resistance using the weight loss equation formula. The use of a micro-scale oven is more effective than a macro-scale oven because when viewed in terms of oven time it only takes 6-7 days to reach the level of 12%, in addition when viewed from consumer demand, if the demand for goods with basic ingredients uses relative teak branches small, the use of oven mirko scale is more appropriate because it is not too much in the use of fuel to help the drying process so that it can reduce production costs. The best treatment for preservation of teak branches is the third treatment, based on the results of the wood resistance value which shows treatment 3 is very resistant and the physical condition of the wood without damage, treatment 3 shows the best wood resistance class.
