Abstract

In addition to social networking activities of instagram now also began to serve as a tool to show the existence of themselves both individually, family, not only as a means to communicate, through the interactive dialog itself, Instagram used as a form of self presentation to build a certain impression in the view of other users through the posting presented. The effort is known as impression management. This study used a qualitative approach, qualitative method is a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written words and oral from the people and observed behavior. Type of research in this research is descriptive research. This type of research, researchers can explain more detailed data that researchers have obtained later. Techniques collection data used to collect data in this study are interviews, documentation and observation. This research can be concluded, impresion management process is done by first creating an account in social media with original personal identity, then proceed with posting either post photo, video or positive and interesting quote. The most prominent form of impression managemant is the self-promotion process, self-promotion is done to attract other users to be willing mengollow account, assuming more followers means impression management successful. virtual activity through social media with real world activity has 50:50 percent. In the case of this study, the profession as a programming turned out to make their posts should lead to something positive.
