Abstract

Procrastination is defined as delaying the task behaviours. Students who have difficulties to do something within the prescribed time limit will often experience delays. Therefore, procrastination is an inefficient behaviour in using time. The high level of academic procrastination of students can be overcome by FGD (Focus Group Discussion) intervention. FGD has a direct relation with the aspects which can reduce procrastination in terms of discussion and interaction within groups. The purpose of this study was to prove the influence of FGD (Focus Group Discussion) in reducing the academic procrastination of junior high school students, with total of subject was 52 students from VIII A 26 students (control) and VIII C 26 students (eksperiment) class. It was a quasi-experimental research with control group pre-test and post-test design. Analysis using non parametric test (Wilcoxon) to know difference of level of student academic procrastination before and after given treatment.. The result proves that there is significant differences in students’ academic procrastination level (z = -4.459 and p = 0.000 < 0.05). Based on the result, it can be concluded that FGD (Focus Group Discussion) can be used to reduce the level of academic procrastination of junior high school students.
