Abstract

The gratitude towards parents who have children with special needs can be seen in the way they treat their children. The formation of Character Strength can support parents in providing appropriate care for their child's growth and development. One of the factors that can bring out Character Strength in individuals is gratitude. This research aims to determine the effect of gratitude on Character Strength in parents of children with special needs (ABK). The method used is quantitative with a correlational type. Data was collected using The Gratitude Questionnaire-Six Item Form (GQ-6) and the VIA-IS scale which was distributed offline and online. The data collection technique used an incidental sampling technique with a total of 310 subjects. Data were analyzed using the Simple Linear Regression Test. The research results show that the determinant coefficient (r²) of gratitude for Character Strength is 0.462. Based on the research results, there is a significant influence between Character Strength and gratitude in parents of children with special needs, so that the higher the gratitude of parents, the greater the influence on Character Strength.
