Abstract
The role of shamans is very influential in the wider community, especially in disadvantaged areas. Society considers very important because the existence of dukun that never fade by the progress of time, even in urban area for example, Village of Dawuhan Situbondo regency, dukun still very big influence for life of local people. The belief that has been held since the time of this past civilization has become a hereditary story and created certain myths. The local people believe that the determination of the day is good for various activities such as wedding day, moving house as well The importance of this study to determine the role of dukun against the determination of good days. In addition, this study also describes the forms of ritual performed by the shaman before determining the good day. The type of research used is qualitative research. Qualitative method is one of the research procedures that produce descriptive data in the form of speech or writing and behavior of the observed person. The main purpose of using qualitative descriptive method is to describe the nature of a situation that is temporarily running at the time the research is conducted and examining the causes of a particular symptom. Researchers would like to describe a view of how the dukun and community role in preserving the tradition of good days.
