Abstract

The availability of the earth energy resource is increased and being limited. Therefore, the alternative energy is needed to change the petroleum. One of the alternative energy that can be used is making the waste woods into briquettes. It can be an alternative way to solve the problem of scarcity of fuel oil in Indonesia. By making the machine of briquette press can be a solution to overcome if the stock of petroleum is over. The process of making briquettes using a molding tool which has been designed, it is a principle where the pressure is obtained from the hydraulic jack, then the fluid which is flows from the hydraulic cylinder to the piston cylinder to push up the piston out. The briquette press machine is driven by an electric motor. The power is required to press the raw material is 0,0299 kW while the motor which is used is 0,475 kW or 1 HP. Before the material is pressed, mix the raw materials using a mixer, there four the raw materials is mixed. The power is required to rotate the mixer is 0,028 kW. While the motor is 0,18 kW. In the briquette press machine, there are two containers and four doses. The volume of container is 124,344 mm3 and 9.537,75 mm3. Therefore, the volume of the doses is 628.000 mm3. It is equal to the volume of briquette mold.
