Abstract

Electrical energy is one of the most important needs of society and as the most important economic resource required in various activities. In the future the need for electricity will increase along with the increase and development of both the population, the amount of investment, technological developments including the development of education for all levels of education. The development of Muhammadiyah University of Malang is increasingly developed and developed, one of which can be seen from the development of facilities and infrastructure that continue to be built, so that the addition of the need for electricity is absolutely necessary. To obtain an efficient power supply installed, it is necessary to find and calculate the installed power to be used. The total load installed on the system can be calculated by comparing the maximum requirement in a system with the requirement factor (Fdm) And as electricity needs increase, there must be a step to overcome it. The purpose of this research is to save electric energy in university campus of Muhammadiyah Malang by way of installation of capacitor bank and LED. Integration on this installation system is multi variable system, so require software aid, in this workmanship the software used is ETAP 12.6. The software optimizes based on the voltage, current and power we input. This paper presents the design of the power saving system using LEDs combined with the capacitor bank as the main electricity saver to reduce the reactive power of electrical load at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Area University of Muhammadiyah Malang is an area covered by a lot of space and also the load used. The results of the simulation and optimization show that overall the optimal system to be applied must replace one component of the TL lamp with LED, but in this design is used is the optimal system using all the resources of the components previously existed in the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. From the design results obtained the amount of Capasitor Bank used for 15 KVAR in each phase
