Abstract

Management of Education in school aimed at purpose of long-range of study to increase student ability, that when they have leaved school bench, they will be able to develop ownself and can solve problem emerging. Ability thinks is one of ability which must be constructed through education as stock in solving problem. In consequence need to be applied a study strategy with approachs of having the character of study model stimulates student for autodidact, and more actively in following study activity. One of them is with study model Probing. Study model of probing is modeling study by the way of raising one question serieses to guide student applies knowledge which there have at x'self to can build x'self becomes new knowledge. Purpose of this research is to know how activity, result of learning, and student response SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pennon Situbondo study having taken steps of mathematics with study model Probing. Research done is qualitative descriptive research. As for subject applied in this research is student VII A SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pennon Situbondo.. Research is executed on 13-22 Julies 2009. Variable in this research is activity, result of learning, and Instruments applied is , test result of learning. Result of research indicates that student activity in one classes reachs average of 68,68%, while student activity in individual, obtained result where there is 3 student obtaining percentage with very good category, 9 student obtaining percentage with good category, 20 students obtaining percentage with good enough category, and 3 student obtaining percentage with unfavourable category. For learning yield rate indicates that out of 23 students reaching score 65 or more amounts to 20 students, or 3 student can be told has not is complete learnt, while for complete learnt classical equal to 75%. While student response agrees that they like with study activity of mathematics by using study model Probing.
