Abstract
This study aims to describe the construction of Islamic values and the pattern of noble character formation by internalizing the Islamic values through Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan Education developed internal stakeholders of STKIP Muhammadiyah Sorong. Methodologically, this research is included in phenomenological research type with qualitative approach. The main data of the study were obtained through the informants while the other data, as supporting data, were obtained from the document. Analytical technique used in this study is descriptive analysis technique. The results showed: First, the very basic values of Islamic teachings namely faith, Islam, and ihsan were understood by internal stakeholders of STKIP Muhammadiyah Sorong as the core of Islamic values. The unity between faith, Islam, and ihsan degrades Islamic values that have a very wide scope covering entire aspects of human life. The derived values of unity between faith, Islam, and ihsan consist of the values of ilahahiyyah (divinity) and the values of insaaniyyah (humanity). Ilaahiyyah values include taqwa (devotion), tawakkal (submission), shabr (patient), syukr (gratitude), ikhlash (sincerity), syajaa'ah (brave), and ridla (permissive). Including the values of insaaniyyah include shiddiiq (true), amanah (trust), tabligh (communicative), fathanah (intelligent), mujaddid (reformer), mujaahid (warrior), shilah al-rahiim (affection), munfiqun (generous), 'adl (fair), tasaamuh (tolerance), and husn al-zhann (good faith); Second, the formation of noble character is accomplished by internalization of Islamic values through the Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan Education. Internalization of Islamic values is implemented by applying Islamic Education model in which elements of education such as basic, purpose, material, method, etc. are controlled or referenced to the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah. Internalization of Islamic values is targeting whole campus members through academic and non-academic channels. Internalization of Islamic values is accomplished through three phases of strategy namely socialization, appreciation, and practice. The formation of noble character leads to the civilizing of Islamic values in the life system of the campus community. Based on the results of the study and the discussion, it is found that Islamic values contain universal truths and therefore can be used as the foundation of the noble character formation for a plural society in terms of culture and religion. The formation of noble character can be effectively implemented if it is supported by the environment community that has the culture or traditions of noble character. The civilization of Islamic values in the midst of the campus community is therefore an integral part of the formation of noble character in college.
