Abstract

Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) can be defined as the presence from abnormalities of structure or kidney function that occurs during > 3 months or more marked by a decrease in Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) (<60 ml / minute / 1.73 m2). Metabolic acidosis is one of the complications that occurs in CKD. Metabolic acidosis occurs because of abnormal kidney function to excrete H+, so blood pH and serum of bicarbonate decrease. The given therapy is sodium bicarbonate to achieve normal bicarbonate levels in the body (22 - 26 mmol / L). Goal: To know the pattern of sodium bicarbonate usage in Chronic Kidney Disease patients with metabolic acidosis in Dr.Iskak Regional Public Hospital Tulungagung include the type, dose, route, and duration of usage associated with lab data and clinical data. Method: Observational by descriptive research design and retrospective data retrieval in Chronic Kidney Disease patients with metabolic acidosis in July 2017 - September 2017. Result and Conclusion: The result of 177 samples show that sodium bicarbonate was only used singly in all patients with dosage (3 x 500 mg) PO of 158 samples (76%) and 100 mEq IV drip of 5 samples (2%).
