Abstract

The study of the arc flash is a part of safety health elements that generally aim to provide protection and control of potential hazards in the workplace. Arc flash analysis is generally carried out on a regular basis to determine the minimum level of personal protective equipment (PPE) that workers should use when performing work on electrical equipment in energized conditions. So with the application of this study in addition to the safety aspect, also plays a role in increasing the productivity of workers and companies in general. To that end, it states that "an arc flash rating must be performed to be able to determine whether or not there is an arc flash hazard. In case of an arc flash hazard, a hazard risk assessment should be determined: (a) appropriate safety for the performance of the work (b) arc flash boundary (c) self-protective equipment (PPE) used in arc flash boundary ". So the purpose of this analysis to be able to determine the potential incident energy value exists during the occurrence of arc flash events and the duration of the occurrence of energy arc flash. Furthermore, based on the category of flash energy boundary can be identified flash protection boundary to determine Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based on NFPA 70E that can minimize and avoid workers and the existing equipment on the impact of the occurrence of arc flash
