Abstract

School Literacy Movement is an activity or activities that are participatory with the involvement of the school community. GLS strengthen growth learners manners, one of the activities carried out within the movement is "15 minutes of reading non lesson book before the lesson begins. Implementation of the Literacy Movement School (GLS) there are three stages, namely, stage of habituation, pengembangam and also learning. Child's reading ability is expected to develop the ability to understand the content of the text extensively, taking information, develop vocabulary and structure of the text, evaluate the text, develop opinions and connect a variety of texts. This study aims to: (1) describe the implementation of the Literacy Movement School on reading ability of students of class III in SDN Kauman 2 Malang (2) describe the factors supporting the implementation of the School Literacy Movement on reading ability of students of class III in SDN Kauman 2 Malang (3) factors inhibiting the implementation of the school literary movement on reading ability of students of class III in SDN Kauman 2 Malang. Implementation of the research results at the School Literacy Movement SDN Kauman 2 Malang is still at the stage of habituation. Kegiataan literacy is divided into the initial stage, the core, and an end. In early literacy activities are reading prayers, reading the Beautiful Names, sang the national anthem Indonesia Raya. Stages core of literacy of reading a book 15 minutes before the lesson begins. The end activity is work on the problems of literacy, reading on the answers, and discussion. GLS supporting factor in the ability to read is a library, a reading corner, the theme slogan literacy, and wagons to read. Inhibiting factors namely students who forgot to bring a book literacy, teachers are less professional.
