Abstract

Javanese script natively known as Aksara Jawa is one of material on Javanese language subject which considered as difficult material. Students are difficult to comprehend Aksara Jawa because they lack of students’ interest. In a case of SD Negeri 3 and 5 Tumpakrejo at 4th grade students, they can memorized the Aksara Jawa squence but difficult to memorized the form of Aksara Jawa and sandhangan. This study aims to describe the development and feasibility of PANDHAWA media on comprehending Aksara Jawa material at 4th Grade of Elementary School. This research and development used ADDIE model. There are 5 stages in this research and development procedures, they are Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Students of SD Negeri 3 and 5 Tumpakrejo at 4th Grade sudents of 2017/2018 academic year as a source of data. By using qualitative and quantitative data analysis, the data were collected using interview, observation, expert validation questionnaire, media user questionnaire and trial observation for small and large group. The results of this research and development showed that the media is appropriate to be used to help 4th Grade students in comprehending Aksara Jawa. It is proved by the researcher on the final results validation of some experts with values above 90%. When the researcher implement this media for the 4th Grade of Elementary School, student’s response towards this media is more active in learning than before using the media. The statement is supported by 89% student’s questionnaire result and 80% observation result of small group trial. Furthermore, the result of questionnaire response is 96% and the trial of students observation in large group is 80%. The use of PANDHAWA media obtained a positive response and an appropriate media in learning Aksara Jawa material. The results of this research and instructional media development of PANDHAWA is suggested to be used as learning media at 4th Grade of Elementary School for Aksara Jawa material and to assist the teachers in making creative, active and innovative learning.
