Abstract
This study aims to describe students' mathematical writing skills in the implementation of School Literacy Movement based on aspects of mathematical expressions, aspects of text writing, symbol aspects. This research uses a descriptive quantitative and qualitative approach. The study was conducted on May 15, 2018 to May 24, 2018. The subjects of this research were 6 students of class VII F SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Batu taken to represent 2 students of high mathematics skills, 2 students on medium math skills, and 2 students on low math skills. The instrument used is a description test. Technique of data analysis performed adalan result of answer test description. Result of research of mathematical writing ability in GLS implementation in students with high mathematics ability, both students are high category in mathematical writing with percentage 68,88% and 77,77%. In students with moderate math skills, both students are in the medium category in writing mathematically with percentage of 57.77% and 46.66%. In students with low math skills, one of the students included is in a mathematical writing, while the second student is low in writing mathematically with the percentage of 44.44% and 20%. In the aspect of mathematical expression, students are able to write a mathematical model but not complete with images. And the mathematical formula is not written completely. In the aspect of writing text, some students are able to write down the steps of work with coherent, but some students have not been able to write the steps of work with coherent. In the symbolic aspect, students have not been able to use symbols consistently.
