Abstract

In the fact that a good school management certainly have an influence on improving the quality national education. Through the government’s policy of granting autonomy authority in School Based Management, it is expected that schools can optimize the resources in accordance with their needs and community residents. With the existence of good school management will produce good child character as well. This study aims to: (1) Describe the implementation of school management in the children’s character building through the role of parents/ family in SD Muhammadiyah 4 Malang. (2) Describe the obstacles in the implementation of school management in children’s character building through the role of parents/ family in SD Muhammadiyah 4 Malang. (3) Describe the solution in the implementation of school management in the children’s character building through the role of parents/ family in SD Muhammadiyah 4 Malang. This research uses qualitative research and the type of research conducted is descriptive. The data sources were: school principals, first grade V teachers, and one school care movement at SD Muhammadiyah 4 Malang. This research was conducted in the second semester (even) of 2018/2019 by using interview, observation and documentation techniques to obtain data about the implementation of school management in character building of children through the role of parents in SD Muhammadiyah 4 Malang. The results of this study show that (1) character building in SD Muhammadiyah 4 Malang has been done since the beginning of elementary school, but a school management activities in the character building of children through the role of parents starting in 2017. School establish a school care movement to help communicate to other parents. (2) the obstacles encountered come from teachers who lack communication with parents. The factors from parents who have different parenting. (3) the solution used to solve the obstacles is establishing more intense communication between the school with the parents. The school also creates an agenda book which also help the school in assessing the children character at home.
