Abstract

Background of the study: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a disorder that appears because of constriction in carpal tunnel or gap in forearm until wrist. The constriction is caused of edema fasia or deformity of hand that arises pressure in nervus medianus in forearm until the wrist. Purpose: This research aimed to find out the relation of ironing work duration in laundry toward risk factor of carpal tunnel syndrome to laundry worker in Malang. Research Method: This research used observational design. It was involved 50 respondents by using purposive sampling. Data is taken with questioner and then obtained data is analyzed by using chi-square test. Result: the result of result with chi-square showed that obtained value was p 0,003 (p<0,05). therefore, it can be said that accepted H1 has relation between work duration toward risk factor of carpal tunnel syndrome for laundry worker in Malang.
