Abstract

SD Muhammadiyah 1 Malang is one of inclusive schools in Malang city which has implemented individual education program (IEP) for students with special needs, especially dyslexia. The student is in 5th Grade with learning difficulties of dyslexia who have received academic intervention approximately for 1 year. This research analyzes how effective the interventions have been given to the student. The Research has been done on 10-14 August 2017, 2017/2018. This research has a purposes to (1) know the implementation of Individual Education Program (IEP) for student with dyslexia in 5th Grade at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Malang; (2) to know the obstacles experienced by the teacher during the implementation of teaching and learning activities with the student with dyslexia in 5th Grade at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Malang; (3) to find out the solution given by the teacher to overcome the reading problem of student with dyslexia in 5th Grade ata SD Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. This research uses qualitative approach, descriptive research type. As a source of data or informants, it was chosen a teacher for class 5A , Special Counselors (GPK), and the student with dyslexa.Data collection techniques used interview techniques, observation, and documentation. Data analysis used in this research is data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The research was conducted in 3 stages: planning, data collection, and data analysis. The results showed: (1) The implementation of the academic intervention was sufficient in accordance with the IEP made by the school, the teacher used drill and classical techniques to teach the student, and using some media such as letter cards and cross-references; (2) Learning problem derived from external and internal factors in the form of a less conducive learning environment and the changing mood condition of the student; (3) Solution from the teachers are flexibility of guidance time, reward system, and use storytelling to tahe the attention of the student.
