Abstract

In fact, the application of literacy in SDN Ketawanggede Malang, has not become a priority of school in growing reading interest of students, so there is an effort to cultivate students reading interest through student book literature. This study aims to determine: (1) whether the literacy activities have a positive and significant effect on the interest of reading grade V SDN Ketawanggede Malang, and (2) how the influence of literacy activity on reading interest of grade V SDN Ketawanggede Malang. This research uses quantitative research and the type of research used is quasi experiment (noneequevalenl control group design). As the subject of research, selected class V SDN Ketawanggede Malang, academic year 2017/2018 which amounted to 66 students. This research was conducted on 08-27 january 2018 with three stages, that is preparation phase of research, stage of research implementation, and evaluation phase. The preparatory phase of the research is done by taking the initial data, the implementation phase of the research is done by giving pretest and the treatment of the book literacy of the penchant, and the evaluation phase of the research is done by giving posttest. The results showed (1) there is a positive and significant influence between literacy activities on students reading interest. This is indicated by the probability value (Sig.) 0.000 <0.05 which means a positive and significant effect. (2) literacy activities have an influence in growing interest in reading grade V SD N Ketawanggede Malang. This is indicated by the correlation value 0.711, if interpreted pertained interval correlation is 0.60 - 0.799 which means the level of relationship strong. The results of this study, literacy activities are proposed to be used as a reference in applying literacy activities to foster interest in reading students, and make students motivated to seek information.
